Melodic frameworks that define the essential notes and phrases for a musical piece. Each raga is associated with specific moods and emotions, enabling musicians to create a diverse range of musical experiences. Each Raga is also derived from a Thaat.
Ragas are also defined by their Aroh (ascending swaras) and avroha (descending swaras), their Vadi (key note) and Sam-Vadi (Second key-note), the Deergha (elongated) and alpa (weak) notes, along with the assigned Thaat.
